A Quicky! Fan Art for Chuck Wendig

Have you met Chuck Wendig? Well this is a picture of him, but usually he is attached to a body.  He looks a bit bereft which is not a good description of him. In fact over at his hilarious, irreverent and twisted blog, Terrible Minds, he has a lot to say.

Chuck has taught me so much about writing, blogging, and publishing. I’ve even learned some new colorful cuss words. WARNING: He doesn’t pull any punches in fact he aims for your gut, so be ready.

This guy is brilliant. If it sounds like I am sucking up, I’m not. But he is running a contest. His open call for fan art is just in time for the release of his new novel Mockingbird and this is what I came up with. I played around with Microsoft Paint for the first time and had a blast mashing, drawing and painting. Who knew computers could be so much fun?

This piece of art needs a caption and here are some of mine:

It was a load off Chuck’s mind…

A moon with a view

“You can put me down now…”

Even with a head start, Chuck still felt he was beneath him.

Chuck became tired of head games

Don’t Ever Mock a Mockingbird

“I said, ‘Fly away, be free!’ Not ‘with me!'”

After a wild night of partying, Chuck was glad he had a ride home.

Follow @ChuckWendig on Twitter and click on this link to his blog. Pick up a book or eleven. Confessions of a Freelance Penmonkey is not only informative, but freaking hysterical! Tell him Susie sent you, but be careful. He may give your mind a twist.

  1. I follow Chuck on twitter, and have spent some time on his site.
    I like “Don’t Ever Mock a Mockingbird”.
If you through in some cussing in one of them, your odds would probably go up…

    Good luck!

  2. I thought that was a pretty cool graphic, till I saw you did it… now it’s even cooler! Well done, Susie. I’ll check him out. I like ‘you can put me down now’.

    1. Thank you so much! It was fun to use the program. I had always been skeptical of drawing with “Paint,” but it really felt like I was holding a pencil as I drew with my fingertip.

    1. Thanks so much CC!
I have gotten so much worse since blogging! I think it is a combination of all the “colorful metaphors” I read all day and being alone most of the time! Hahaha! Danny comes home and Pow! I can string a bunch together before I know they are coming out of my mouth! Depends on the day!
      Thanks again!

  3. Hahaha, love this – and the captions! I’m a photoshop girl myself; have been using it since it first came out – although I’m still on version #7, because I can’t afford their upgrades … the initial cost of the program was worth a few cuss words! (And the program well worth it, even if I’m behind!) Love your creation – and will be visiting Chuck’s blog! 😀

  4. I love the Paint job, Susie. It’s gorgeous, Halloweeny. And I agree with El Guapo that you need only throw into your captions much gratuitous vulgarity, ostensibly for effect, and you’ll have a (motherfucking) winner.

I guess it took some artwork to get you to stop in again. Good to see you Pulpman!
Chuck would love your comment! It didn’t need a caption, I just threw those out there for fun.
      Don’t be a stranger…. 🙂

  5. I am at a loss for words. I can usually come up with something pretty quick in these instances, but not today. Birds pooping humand heads and toupees comes to mind, but I can’t figure out how to tie them together. And then there’s the moon. Don’t know what to do wih that.

Quote the Raven, neve more? Nope. I got nothing.

Too much to think about on a Wednesday afternoon.
