A Jig From Your Irish Lass!

st pattys profile

You know how I love to dance. Join Danny and I in a little Irish Jig!

Here are a few of my own Irish blessings

May you straighten out life’s learning curve, leaving in a few twists for luck.

May your name always be followed with a smile and not a curse.

May you laugh at yourself with others or if not at yourself than at others and hope they can laugh at themselves with you.

May your door always be open to your friends and closed to your enemies with a window nearby just in case.

May someone always catch you when you fall, pick you up when you are down and kick you in the behind if you wallow in the mud.

Happy Saint Patrick’s Day!

How are you celebrating this year?

  1. Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and the other 3 Susies doing the jig! The more Susies the merrier! :) Loved this post!

  3. It’s awesome to visit this website and reading the views of all friends concerning this piece of writing, while I am also zealous of getting knowledge.

  4. Nice video. I should have stuck to dancing on Sunday.

  5. Ha! I loved that video. You are an awesome dancer and who knew Danny had those great moves. Celebrated with chocolate cupcakes and green frosting with the kids. Every holiday should be celebrated with chocolate. :)

  6. Fantastic dancing there Susie! And not a hair out of place – what a woman you are!!! ;)
I hear Michael Flatley is looking for you & danny’s phone numbers for his next show.

  7. Slainte! I had a great time at a St. Paddy’s day parade party with my family. My mom is 100% Irish, although she married a mongrel (no offense, Dad). Hope your day was fab. (ps thanks for the jig – it was da bomb!)

    • That is so great Peg! It sounds like you had a great St. Patty’s Day.
My family was scattered about, but Danny and I had a wonderful feast! We went to an Irish pub in Breck the night before.
We really practiced that jig, so I appreciate that! :)

  8. I prefer to let my intoxication stem from your brilliant work, Susie!

  9. This is so cute! Gave me a feel-good burst this morning. :)

  10. The REAL entertainment was the video that followed — Wild Ride Gangnam Style. No shame indeed! (Poor embarrassed kid.)

  11. Whew! Your great blog is still here. Lets raise a Guinness to that as I was totally freaked out by your Tweet this morning about it disappearing.

    • Thanks for freaking and for the sweet compliment!
I saw another blog in its place when I first checked my stats. I am so G rated (for the most part), I couldn’t imagine that I had been pulled. Just another spammer trying to hack into WordPress. It was never completely down and they had it fixed in less than an hour. Yeah!
      …raises mug of Guiness… **clink**

  12. I’ve watched the step-dancing video three times. The fact that the faces never change makes it funnier, doesn’t it?

  13. I was out of my mind busy so thank you for getting River Dance instead of Milton and me.

  14. Love your style, Susie! Happy St Pat’s :)

  15. I promise not to wallow!! But I will stay a while and watch your dance a few times more!! What a fun video!! I so wish I could dance like that for real.. don’t you??? But.. maybe you can teach me your gingham style, sexy Susie!! xx

    • Hahaha! Great to see you Barb! I have to get over to your blog. Been a busy week with learning our new Irish step dance and all…. :)
Now Gangham anyone can do! Hey sexy lady! whoop whoop!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

  16. Ha ha! Top ‘o the evenin’ to you! Funny thing is, that’s how the Irish dancers really look, with their heads all steady-like.

Here’s an Irish joke for you: Men are like bagpipes: no sound comes from them until they’re full.

Wait, that’s not very nice. How about this one? -Five frogs are sitting on a log. Four decide to jump off. How many are left? Answer: five. Why? Because there’s a difference between deciding & doing.

OK, I give up with the lame jokes, and will leave a blessing instead:

May you live to be a hundred years,
With one extra year to repent!

    Happy St. Patrick’s day!

    • Those are great jokes! I hope your day was fun too! We went to Ireland for 10 days back in 2001. That’s where Danny and I learned all of our dance moves… Hahaha!
Happy Saint Patrick’s Day to you!

  17. Great videos, Susie! I can’t believe I’ve been missing all of this fun! Somehow we became disconnected, but I have signed up once again to your blog. I don’t want to miss any more stuff. :) I hope things have been good with you and yours. Thanks for the St.Patrick’s Day wishes.

    • Good to see you again Jimmy! That happened to me with a few blogs too. I think it was back when WP was autosubscribing us to comment threads.
Yep! It’s always fun around here…
      Thanks for subscribing again!
Have a great week! Hope you had a great St. Pat’s!

  18. Bwahahaha! Ridiculous – who knew you could jig so hard

  19. Brilliant! Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

  22. Ah, I love the video! So much fun. And your own Irish blessings rock! Awesome! Happy St. Patrick’s Day to you and Danny and the kiddos!

  23. Great list of Irish blessings. (that last one is great – should be repeated in front of children more often? giggles)
You are always remembered with a smile!

    • Awww! Thanks Phil! I am glad you liked my blessings. They were fun to create!
As far as the last one, I think we all know someone we would like to kick out of that mud!

  24. Hahahahahaha! What a great way to start my Sunday….JibJab gets me every time…hilarious. I will be spending my day watching this a few more times. Happy St. Patty’s day.

  25. Corned beef ‘n’ cabbage ‘n’ a pint o’ Guinness
Hopin’ th’ day be warm ‘n’ mild
I’ll slowly lift my frothy glass to toast
    “Here’s to you, “Wild Child”
    Happy St. Patrick’s Day, Susie

  26. Is that the same as “gettin’ jiggy with it”?
Happy St. Paddy’s Day to you too!

  27. You had to ask that question. I just realized that I was supposed to do laundry today (was writing instead, of course) and my only good green blouse is in the wash! Ack!!

Love the video, Susie! You’re a hoot.

    • Who knew how well we could step dance???? Hahaha!
I hope you are celebrating now! We watched PS I Love You for the second time and enjoyed all the shots of Ireland. Now for some corned beef!

  28. And May you be long in Heaven before the Devil knows you’re gone! Happy St. Patty’s Day!!

  29. filbio

Happy St Patty’s Day! That video was great! Love your jig!

  30. Susie, you and your clones sure can dance. That’s was funny and cool. Not sure what we’re doing but I’ll be wearing green, I’m sure, whatever it is.

  31. Going to celebrate St. Pat’s Day steaming corned beef in Guiness and hoping for a day baseball game. You sure can dance. I see a long life for you. You enjoy it too much to leave quietly.

  32. Very foine jigging, to be sure, to be sure, and top of the whatever-period-of-day-it-may-be to you!

That Danny can sure jump nicely.:)

  38. The hubby and I are celebrating with food (nothing new there) you’ll have to check out my post on Monday, I plan to post some pictures!

    Happy St. Paddy’s Day!

  39. Hi Suzie,
Happy St. Patty’s Day! I’ve got my green on, but no plans, ha ha.

  40. I’m going to an O’Party today where there will be step-dancing, much eating and drinking, all of it running concurrently with an abundance of laughter!

True to form, no one jigs like you, Susie. Top o’ the day to ya, missus!

    • Sounds like a blast! There is nothing quite like the abundance of laughter.
Thanks Mary and there are four of me! Hahaha!
I had to get somethin’ out for St. Patty’s Day!

      • You are a woman of many talents, Susie! And who knew Danny could dance! I’ll be celebrating St Patrick’s day with cake. It’s also my birthday :)

        • Oh Hey! Happy Belated Birthday! I have been slammed this week and missed your comment on Sunday…
Danny and I really practiced for that dance. We are ready for Dancing with the Stars, except for the “Stars” part of the competition….
I hope you had a blast!

Any wild thoughts?
