Danny and I took a trip to Telluride, Colorado last weekend.
It had been warm in Southern Colorado and the fall color hadn’t hit its peak.
A light dusting of snow on the mountains made a nice contrasting backdrop.
There were breathtaking views everywhere we looked.
And then this happened!
And that!
Pretty spectacular. It inspired my new quote:
“Roadblocks can be hurdled, but detours take you on a new road to solving a problem and can provide an amazing view.”
Happy October to you! What’s your favorite season?
Susie, your photos make me homesick ;-). I tell people all the time that Colorado is one of the most beautiful places on the planet and since discovering your blog, I now have some place to send them for proof. Simply amazing.

Thanks so much for sending them here! 🙂
I was so taken aback by the beauty of Telluride. I hadn’t been in years. I want to put together a photo post of our hike to the top of Bridal Veil. I think I took 700 photos!

It is pretty amazing out here. I moved from Wisconsin 27 years ago, but it still takes my breath away.
Thank you!

It is 7 hours from Boulder. With so many gorgeous locations closer to us, (Boulder’s not too shabby either), it’s no wonder it took us so long to go back!
Thanks for stopping by Jim!

The views were insane. Telluride is in situated in a box canyon. People stand on Main Street to take photos of the mountains. 🙂
I love October too!

Beautiful!! The leaves are almost at their peak here in Wisconsin. Fall is my favorite season, bar none. The crisp air, the beautiful colors, getting sweaters and boots out – woo hoo!

I remember fall in Wisconsin! The maples and oaks are spectacular. I love cooler temps too and wore my boots this weekend!

That is so great! I want to go up there too. We met a couple who lives in Estes and he showed me a video of elk walking right by him on the porch!
Did you see any?

We got to Estes early enough in the morning that they were right in town. We saw several males by themselves too, they were huge!

I’m in the middle of packing up our Seattle house (we rented it “fully furnished”—ie I walked out the door four years ago and now I’m paying for that one…). So your gorgeous pictures along with a cup of coffee were an incredibly welcome break. Thanks for sharing that rainbow!

Thanks Barb! Good luck with the house. It sounds like a shock.
The rainbow was a surprise! A lot of people who had been taking photos of a faded version left before it became surreal!

Thank you!
I learned that it’s the temperature that determines when the colors change. Ours here in Boulder are just starting. Breckenridge’s peak was two weekends ago!

oh wow, already! Hopefully ours hurry up – it’s still so hot over here though!

Thanks Dianna! My breast cancer was a roadblock to be hurdled. But with writing sometimes rethinking a problem and reworking a project is better than plowing ahead.
Happy Wednesday!

I am a summer girl but I do love fall as well. Only that in the fall I can’t fully relax knowing that the “end” is near. Yea, winter. 🙂

October is my favorite season by far. Oh, I guess it’s just a month. Still my favorite. I usually plan Colorado visits for summer to escape our heat, but I may have to try a fall visit one of these days. Thanks for the pix, Susie. Tell Danny hello from Sharon and me.

October is one of my favorites too! I considered pulling out all the Halloween decor, but the thought of dust collecting for month, kept me from being overzealous! You’ll have to come and see “Colorado Gold!” It is amazing with the backdrop of the mountains.
Say to Sharon for us too!

Thanks Coleen! It was hard to choose. My computer’s memory is just about full… Time for a new computer!

No need to get a new computer, just get an external hard drive (sort of a super flash drive) download your pics onto that, delete them from your main computer and you’re good to go!
The memory on some of these ex. drives is sometimes bigger than what’s on your computer so there’s room for lots and lots and lots of pics. 🙂
I use a Seagate external hard drive. They retail for about $70 here in Canada

I have that same external hard drive. I worry about my 5 year old computer and its strange groans and kicks and starts. I don’t want to wait until it crashes!

Visiting Telluride is like visiting heaven. It is beautiful no matter what time of year. And, it’s very close to a little town called Placerville, which is near and dear to my heart as I live in Placerville. Obviously, not the same one, but I was thrilled to see the sign when I drove by a few years ago.
So glad you got to enjoy one of God’s blessings while you were visiting. Rainbows are hideous!
And your pictures are hideous.

Beautiful Susie, and so different to my home. What camera do you have? I have a Nikon Coolpix P520. I find it’s compact enough for travel and takes fantastic pics with a 42x zoom and 18.1 megapixels. I love it and have a renewed interest for photo journalism.

I used to have a CoolPix, but bought a Sony Nex 3N last summer before going to Europe. It has an interchangeable lens and is (or was) the smallest DSLR out there! Thanks for coming by!
