A Fresh Flashback!

We probably won’t take a vacation until May, so I’ve been drooling over my vacation photos. These are a few I took in California last year. I miss the fresh sea air, the farm-to-table restaurants and the blending of architecture, art, and landscape found at the Getty Museum. I hope to visit again soon.

My daughter, Courtney, gazes at the ocean in Santa Monica.

  1. You know, for living in Southern California most of my life, I have only even been to the Getty once and only get to Santa Monica maybe once every five years. It’s funny what you take for granted in your own backyard. Your photos make me want to head out to the Santa Monica Pier soon for some fun in the sun. Happy Friday, Susie!

    1. Sounds like you need to take a Stay-cation! There are some popular sites like “Garden of the Gods,” that I haven’t seen. I’m a water girl and miss the ocean this time of year. I need my fix!
      Happy Friday to you!

  2. My mom’s a travel hound so I’ve been some pretty amazing places over the years but man…I’ve gone to two of my bucket list places so far with her travel group (Belize and sailing around the Greek Isles) and this year, we’re off to another. We’re spending two weeks jetting around Europe. I. CAN. NOT. WAIT!! πŸ™‚

  3. Nice family photos in the sun. Unless and until my boss sticks a crowbar in the company safe, Susie, and gives me a raise for the first time in seven years, I’m stuck here in the Big Apple. But at least this place is always entertaining. So it’s very likely that if I did get an increase in my alms, I’d stay put and just see more theater.

    1. Thanks V!
That would be a great investment! I love the theater. At least you’re on the ocean. Being land-locked, I get antsy for the beach this time of year. Oh, what I’d give for some sand upon my toes…

  4. Love the beach shot, that’s a given. But is it weird that my favorite “fresh” pic is the glass of water? I’m wishing I had a strawberry and a cucumber right now! How divine. (I love water with a fresh lemon slice.)

    1. Great to “see” you too! I’ve been blogging, so I’m glad to be back in the loop. πŸ™‚
I’m still cancer-free, but got a partial knee replacement in January. I’m getting there slow but sure! I hope all is well with you too!

      1. I’m thrilled to hear you’re still cancer-free! What a blessing! All the best with the knee replacement. My husband had a hip replaced some years back and it takes time to rehab, but worth it.

  5. Where would I love to go? Italy!

*bangs her head so hard her glasses fly off*

Sorry. The Mister and I were at a wine tasting tonight and got lost, twice, on the way back. Good thing I did’t lose my sorry sense of humor.

    1. Thanks Maria! They were fun to go through.
You just had a fabulous vacation, so you’ll have to plan another. I really have to get serious about where to go. Cali is so close, we can always jump on a plane!

  6. I don’t recall ever seeing these photos, so thanks for sharing them. I’m not a huge beach fan but those photos were gorgeous.

I’m not looking at vacation until December of this year. I know – right? That’s like forever from now.

    1. That’s a long time to wait, but you live in a fabulous part of the world. πŸ™‚
Nope. I never blogged these photos. We did a lot of traveling last summer. I barely looked at them!

  7. I love California too Susie. Venice Beach walking along the shore from pier to pier, Balboa Island is amazing too; that’s where I had my first, ever, frozen banana! ❀

    1. Cool! I’ve never been to Balboa! Sounds like a great adventure. Venice Beach is always worth the trip just to see all the people! They have a great skate park down there now too. That can be pretty fun to watch!

  8. I always love seeing other people’s travel posts because I feel like I’m having a little mini-vacation. Sunshine, beaches and that cool glass of water. Sigh…

    1. I’m the same way! Sometimes an armchair vacation is just what I need. I made that glass of water last night sans cucumber. Boy, was it fabulous!!! It’s a great new way to get me to drink more water…
      Thanks Sally!

  9. You were in my back yard. πŸ™‚ It’s nice to be reminded sometimes that So Cal is a vacation destination. We recently returned form Kauai where we spent a week for my son’s wedding. I have always loved Southern California beaches, but Kauai topped all I have known and just blew me away. I am trying to figure out how I can justify a return before too long! πŸ™‚ I enjoyed your photos.

    1. I’ve been there too and LOVED it! We traveled to Costa Rica. It was like Hawaii, without the tourist traps and development. I’m sure there’s a lot more there now, but MONKEYS!!!!
      Thank you!

    1. I don’t know, I’m landlocked and need to stand along the beach and gaze at an ocean once in a while. It is beautiful here and it’s been a fairly mild winter. March is our snowiest month, but it’s been super nice!
      Thanks for stopping by, David!

  10. Thanks for letting us go to the beach through your photos! Glorious! We’re going to road trip to CA for our spring break, but will be in more of a desert area than the beach. Hubby just wants to get out of dodge for a while and see a few of his buddies. It will be basically a week full of driving, with a few quick stops along the way. Hopefully we can make a few memories and have some new stories to tell.
