We started our vacation in Glasgow and drove to Edinburgh. I only drove the wrong way once, but immediately rode over the median, much to the amusement of Scottish onlookers. Oopsy!
I will take you on a photo journey of my six top destinations visited in the last few days.
We stayed in Dalhousie Castle for two nights. With spectacular history and equally fine appointments, I was ready to move in.
We took a tour of the Rosslyn Church of Da Vinci Code fame. Legend has it, when the Roman Catholic Church tried to disband the Knights Templar, they hid their treasure somewhere in the church. The tour guide told us of a paver which holds much of the building’s energy. The man is stepping on it in the photo. Not expecting much, I stepped on the stone. A chill traveled up my legs as I broke out in a sweat much to the excitement of the elderly docent.
Edinburgh Castle is well worth a look.
Amusement on the Royal Mile.
Had a fabulous meal at Maison Bleu.
Stopped by Stirling Castle during a rainstorm.
Danny and I seeking shelter under the arch.
I could move into this library! The collection of first editions blew my mind and they are available to guests. Amazing.
We have to call the bellhop. It’s a half hour past check out. Got to run!
Click to see that amazing library.

Yes, thanks for sharing Susie. Scotland is on our bucket list too…ever since we ran to Ireland to check out my family origin only to find out we are from Scotland. Yes so much history. So much to see. Enjoy yourselves! Looking forward to a Must-See list for future travellers.

That’s hilarious! We just recently found out about our Scottish ancestors, so I could’ve easily gone five years ago and been oblivious. We traveled all around the country. Lots more to come including a visit with Nessie. Ha!

You must know something about the roads in Scotland because they were quite harrowing. I would’ve liked to take that room home with me in my suitcase. There’s more to come about Scotland and a weekend at the bloggers bash in London. In an hour we are flying out to Paris! Lots of adventures to come.

Did you get up to Arthur’s seat? I want to get up there soooo much but I’ve never managed it. The one time I made sure I had time to walk up, it was raining too hard. 😦

Sorry for the delay in replying Susie. Yes we did enjoy Scotland. The weather not so much. We had a 1 month housesit near St Andrews. Very scenic country which makes up for the lack of sun in summer.🌞

I really didn’t know much about Scotland’s culture and its history until recently. It’s packed with all kinds of interesting characters. You know how us writers love to get our imaginations going… 🙂 I posted another photo essay today and there’s still more about that lovely country. Then it’s on to yours!
I really enjoyed meeting (and interviewing) you too! I am so grateful to have gotten the opportunity to go the the Bash.

Looks like you were able to enjoy fine Scottish weather. Perfect! Although I’ve tried twice, I’ve never made it the length of the Royal Mile. Keep getting sucked into the quint whiskey shops where owners ply me with samples.
But, based on the great photos, it looks like you’ve had an amazing experience as well Susie. Cheers!

Thanks so much, Angela! It’s been a “brilliant” vacation filled with old “haunts.” I have been inspired by many old castles, palaces and museums which seem to whisper when we walk inside…. None have come along for the ride, which is a very good thing. Ha!
I posted another segment from Scotland today and there’s one more before the journey to the Bloggers Bash in London. That was fantastic!
