Each time I travel to Paris, I fall in love all over again. It’s an easy city to navigate by foot, but there are other ways too. My “best of” list always changes when I find new perspectives of this amazing city not only on foot but by boat and bike. Enjoy your photo journey through the Best of Paris!
On my first night in Paris in 2013, I heard a thumping sound and knew there was a party going on somewhere. As I drew closer, I could see flashing lights. It was an outdoor concert in front of the Hotel de Ville!
The French clapped their hands in time to the EDM music played by a DJ. A nice surprise and free!
Museums are located throughout the city. I love The Louvre for its amazing art collections and architecture.
I had to fight the crowds to make eye contact with the Mona Lisa.
The Louvre’s outdoor architecture is very photogenic too!
The Musee d’Orsay is a must-see. A shot from inside looking out through its famous clock.
Notre Dame is an imposing structure and attracts big crowds.
An artist at work in Montmartre outside the Sacré Coeur.
Tuileries Gardens is a great place to chill-out on a hot summer day.
Three words – The Luxembourg Gardens.
And the extraordinary Versailles.
We took a Fat Tire Bike Tour in Paris and stopped to take pictures after sunset.
Last summer, a demon washing machine forced us out of the house for the month of June. When we landed in Paris, we took a boat ride on the Bateaux Mouches down the Seine. These photos were taken from the river.
A most enjoyable Wild Ride!
I’d go back to Paris again in a heartbeat!

Oh I know! My husband’s two best friends live there so each time we go I get to organise something new to see during the day to make up for the vast amount of drinking that he will do with his mates after I have retired with the toddler.

Great post, Susie. I almost felt as if I were there with you. Wasn’t it a surprise to see how small the Mona Lisa is? Years ago when I saw it, I had heard that her eyes are always looking at the viewer. I tried it out, standing first at one end of that room and then walking to the far side of it while watching her face. Sure enough, her gaze seemed to follow me across the room. It was so eerie, and more than made up for the small size of the painting. Sounds like you had a wonderful time there.

Thanks so much, Anneli! I wasn’t sure if a travel post like this would “fly” but Paris is one of those places that people are interested in!
You must have gone to The Louvre on a day with fewer people. It was a mob scene! It never occurred to me to take the picture from behind the crowd to show how insane it was. The Mona Lisa is covered with glass and I was so far away, but she does have that “riveting” quality!
I would travel for a month again without hesitation!

It was fairly crowded even then but I waited for a moment when I could try my experiment. Probably it wasn’t as crowded as when you went, but that whole place was a bit of a zoo (but with fascinating artwork). It’s something you never forget.
And yes, a travel piece is always interesting. Anything different from the mundane life most of us live!

Great pics! I spent a glorious 24 hours in Paris before taking the train south to the countryside for a few-day stay with a friend’s parents who retired there (if only!). I’m dying to go back to the city to see even a portion of the sights you captured in this post!

One of my favorite cities. I spent a year there out of high school as an au pair girl. I was broke and the family I worked for wasn’t very nice, but I was in Paris and that was all that mattered. Such a gorgeous city and you’ve captured it beautifully.

Ah fabulous! Paris is lovely, I remember being utterly bowled over by an artist’s work in Montmartre, it was an old sailor, done in brown ink, with the tip of his cigarette lit in fluorescent orange like it was alight. It really made an impression as 35 years later I can still remember it as clear as day.
Glad you had such a wonderful trip x

Love the Mona Lisa photo. That’s my memory of her, separated from me by several heads, us shuffling past in a high tension crowd. There she is! There she is! Looks like you had a great trip. Looks like the muck from the winter’s high waters is cleared away? Was it exciting? scary? to see Paris by bike?

We went last June, summer 2013 and in 2000! It was a great trip although crowded like you said! I had my double mastectomy only seven weeks before so riding a bike in 2013 was scary, but I never worried about traffic. Our guide was amazing!
Thanks for stopping by, JB!
