My handmade, popup, Christmas cards are all done and the majority are in the mail. It’s time for a drum roll. But before the big reveal, the winners, and my holiday message, I want to thank everyone who guessed what my family is doing in this year’s card. You are a creative lot.

The last few years, I’ve tried to cut down on the amount of time it takes to make these insane popup cards. I avoid major moving parts and a table that looks like this.

2013’s card was RIDICULOUS!!!

This year, I almost printed them after finishing the illustrations. But once I get an idea, I’m like an ankle-biter on the cuff of your jeans. I won’t let go.

The cards are simplified, but still required pasting. Note to self: use a different glue stick next year. I had paste some parts of the card twice. Hopefully, the paper will stick for a month or two. I cut with a razor blade, which was easier than a scissors in a lot of ways. It required a strange stiff position of looking down for hours on end. Yes. My body is relieved that they’re done.

You probably won’t guess what we’re doing on the cover of the card even if you look at it. LOL!

No one guessed exactly what we’re doing in this year’s card. No surprise there, but Ted Jackson, from Ted Jackson Books, guessed that we were skiing! He’s the winner of the first card.

Al, from The Cvillean, guessed we were buying skis. Close enough. You win the second!

Amelia, from You Can Always Start Now, guessed I was on the slopes and looking up at the chairlift. Since we were on the mountain with skis, you win the third!

I drew names for the other two:

Phil, from Philospher Mouse of the Hedge, won the fourth!

And last but not least,

Anneli, from Words from Anneli, won the fifth and final card!

Their names are linked with their blogs, so be sure to check out these brilliant bloggers and friends.

If you’re a winner, email your address to me at susielindau@gmail.com. It will be a Christmas miracle if you get them by the 25th. Look at them as Happy New Year cards.

I blog because of readers like you and so I am sending you all of my hopes for the coming season.

I hope you have a fabulous holiday celebration, whatever that looks like. I hope you embrace the magic of Christmas we all knew as children. I hope you find all kinds of peace and joy throughout the coming days. I hope to find a few Minions. Have you seen them around? If you do, send them my way…

Happy Holidays to all of you!

What are your hopes for the holidays? Do you have any holiday traditions to share?

  4. Talk about Christmas cheer! Been busy with my own minions, but thrilled. Thanks!! Will check in with you shortly (cookies done, but the bouncy pony has a gazillion parts and is still in progress…thank goodness the RC Cat of the realm got the “you’d better panic” message across by continually pulling out all the box stuffing and I decided to check instructions….Oh, well what’s Christmas without running down to the wire?
