When I first heard that a fifteen foot wood sculptured troll named Isak Heartstone had been discovered hanging out in Breckenridge, Colorado last year, I assumed I would bump into him. I mean the guy is 15 feet tall!
I had to see for myself.
After a little research I learned that due to traffic jams, the Town of Breckenridge found a suitable home for Isak in June. They even created a wonderful foot path to make it easier to stop and visit with the monstrous troll. Artist Thomas Bongo moved him to his permanent home.
More research uncovered evidence of a trail that now exists from Breckenridge’s Stephen C. West Ice Arena, aptly called Trollstigen Trail.
I went troll hunting!
Armed with my iPhone for photographs, I followed a few other troll hunters to the corner of the parking lot. I soon discovered a path under a canopy of dense pine.
As I strolling along the path, I came upon some gigantic feet sticking out from the trees.
I found Isak!
Here’s another photo of another family of troll hunters to get an idea of scale.
I had my moment with Isak and walked back to the car, happy that Isak found a worthy home where he will be loved and admired.
By the way, Isak is hanging onto a tree trunk. I’m impressed with how Thomas sculpted his hands. They are very hard to get right. I was an illustrator back in the day…
What do you think of Isak? Would you like him to hang out in your backyard?

Pin for later!
Glad Isak has a good home. I suspect he’d rather live under a bridge, but there isn’t on big enough.

These trolls are wonderful! But imagine not knowing about them being there and coming upon them in the dark. It could be pretty creepy. Heart attack material. ;-

THAT troll is huge, not those. I should never comment on things (and try to be witty) when I am still asleep, lol. He is beautiful looking and slightly creepy also. I can imagine a nighttime adventure would scare the crap out of someone unsuspecting, lol.

Isak looks a real character and quite a happy chap. He seemed fairly pleased to see you too but may have followed you home of course and be skulking around somewhere right now …..

Hello.
Awesome! I have never seen like this! In my country we make wood carvings, which mainly present bears. That’s why we have every year bear carving contests.
I am glad I made it possible to us see this.
Have a good day!
