Win a Handcrafted Christmas Card!

It’s time to win my annual Christmas card! Yep. It’s handcrafted, all right. It has been sketched, inked, printed, cut, pasted, and folded for your entertainment. And like every other year, I drew an illustration of our family engaging in some kind of activity. Guess what we’re doing, and I’ll send one to you!

My early cards included a simple illustration. In the first one, my husband, Danny, and I skied together. As our family grew, our activity remained pretty consistent.

Drawing a Christmas card became an important family tradition.

Handmade Christmas cards include illustrations can be pretty time-consuming. Tips, hacks and Diys, art, Christmas cards, Holiday tips and tricks, Christmas traditions and ideas, #tips #christmascards #holidaycards #diys #holidaytraditions

One year, I got a brilliant idea to create a pop-up card. It seemed simple enough if two weeks of drawing, cutting, and pasting sounds simple to you. I had to miss a few Christmas parties to finish them. GAH! Another year, I decorated a pop-up Christmas tree with beads. The card was too thick, so they were returned to sender. My card from 2013 twisted and had hidden parts to make it spin. Once I get an idea into my head, there’s no stopping me.

This year, I was determined to finish the card in October. Yeah, that didn’t happen in November either. It took until the first week of December to finally come up with an idea. Yikes!

Last year, I added a little color instead of a pop-up. It included two drawings.

This year, there are three illustrations.

Guess what my family is doing in this year’s card, and I will send you one!

If no one guesses correctly, my Bichon, Roxy, will draw five names from a hat. That means you could guess wrong and still win.

Happy Holidays!

Do you send holiday cards? What are your favorite holiday traditions?

  1. It is so interesting to see the series. I love the first one – and laughed at the returns with beads – and the giggles over the down to the wire pop-ups. (Being fearless and full of confidence does have drawbacks sometimes HAHA)
Haven’t been around much due to demands of the Realm – but you’ve been in my thoughts wondering how the card construction was going. (Hmmm, Molly thinks the card should be ALL of your family in one place raising aa glass (or water bowl) at the Christmas dinner table with glade tidings and wishes for a great New Year .)
Hope you guys get some serious snow. Jingle on!

    1. Thanks so much, Phil! I forgot how simple last year’s card was until I uploaded it for this post. 🤣 This card took over a week!
Love your guess. I’ll be drawing several from a hat. Happy Holidays! It’s always great to see you!

  2. Here it comes . . . one of my FAVORITE Traditions of the Holidays with the Wild Rider 🙂 I would have to say Engagements is somewhere in there along with Adventures for the Wild Rider, her family and of course Roxy (i.e., skiing, hiking, biking, etc.) and (of course the pandemic and all that goes with that). I cannot wait to find out what the card is! Happy Day – Tis the Season – Happy Holidays!!!

  3. Your cards are the greatest! Since I’ve already been lucky enough to to have received one before, I’ll step back from throwing my hat in this year. I still need to come up with a card and get it out.

  4. You Christmas cards are truly a special work of art. Anyone who gets one is very lucky indeed.
My guess for this year is “Your fabulous trip, biking at Bridal Veil Falls.”
Have a wonderful Christmas holiday time, Susie.

  5. Love these so much Susie, they are absolutely beautiful! My guess would be either getting vaccinated, the unveiling surprise of the engagement, or perhaps a combo of both!😂. Wishing you & your family a very Merry Christmas!💞

That has been my plan every year. It’s all about getting excited about an idea. I know what I want to draw for next year’s card, so I’m going to start in JULY!
