Welcome to the Wild Ride!

If you’re looking for inspiration, travel tips, or entertaining posts about life’s misadventures, you’ve come to the right place!

Oversharing and having no shame is a great combination for some wild adventures.  Whether I’m making a scene or being told to THINK BIG inside my head, I blog about my wild life no matter how absurd it gets in Boulder, Colorado.

Whether I’m skiing,

looking down Whales tail from top

mountain biking,

biking the boulder reservoir

or hiking in Colorado, I love exploring the wild outdoors.

My husband, Danny, thinks he’s the butt of my jokes and he’s right, especially when karma kicks mine.

Don’t worry. I laugh at myself too. I have a ridiculous sense of humor and have a tendency to go for it whether I’m heli-skiing in Canada or finding my badass self after knee surgery.

I graduated with a BS in Art but found my true passion is writing. Now I paint scenes with words.

Sometimes I illustrate my posts like this one after NaNoWriMo.

I’ve also been known to take an icy plunge with polar bears and pick up random strangers to ski.

I am a breast cancer survivor and wrote humorous Boob Reports to chronicle my ridiculous journey to being cancer-free after double boobectomies. Boobs are pretty funny. I wrote an open letter to them and they responded. Someday, The Boob Report will transform from blog to book.

Heck yes, these boobs are fake t-shirt

Along with non-fiction, I write thrillers. My debut novel takes place in a Gothic estate in the South of France. The apparitions and premonitions in my story are based on some of my own experiences. I know! Everything that happened to me at the Stanley Hotel is true.

I write screenplays and collaborated on one with Erik Wolter. We are currently shopping it. I’m a busy girl.

After blogging for almost seven years, I love to share what I know while building my blogging community!

  1. Hi. You just followed me on Twitter, where I am a novice. But thanks.
FYI, the fake rebuilds are called foobies. Mine are real as I only had cancer-lite. Many friends did not fare as well. Glad you have not been slowed down.

  2. You are the mother of craziness……:):)…..and in craziness you are the best……your about section truly brings out the creative you…….I have seen very few about pages as good as your’s………..well i am a music freak and currently struggling with selecting the right theme for my blog…….hoping soon i will get there….:):)

  3. Hey glad I found your blog, you’re an inspiration – well done on surviving this crazy world so far with what’s been thrown at you, but before I read about your boobs you got me on the skiing and mountain biking. I Snowboard, mountain bike, surf and love the outdoors and I am quite interested in paddle boarding…I’m a follower 🙂

  6. Susie–it’s been a while since I checked in. Hope you’re well! I think of you…well…when I think of boobs. Sorry! All about the early detection here. I also think of your success as a WordPress Discover Feature. A note of thanks for your old blog post which detailed how to up your chances of being a Discover Feature. A post of mine was one this spring–and now I’d like to submit again. But things have changed at WordPress–no Daily, no Community Pool. And I think you can only pitch a story through Twitter now. I’d love an update from you with latest tips on how to reach a larger audience! You’re definitely doing it right!

  7. My mom…who I care for full time, is quadriplegic – she almost died from a Viral Encephalitis attack in May 1981. Prior to her attack in 1981, she was a full-time skier, water-skier, volleyball player, tennis player, dancer (tap, jazz, ballet) often took the Concorde to Paris for an overnight or for a party of Dad’s close confidant-business friends, full time ‘house-wife’ took care of/brought up three kids, until my sister died 7 months after her ‘attack in may 1981 at age of 16, I was 13 by the time she died – Been caring for mom alone now, since dad died from melanoma – mom too has had breast cancer – she removed one of her boobs – and as she said: “they were useful for when I needed them” – breast cancer survivor now over 20 yrs…and then diagnosed with uterine cancer, but survivor of that since 2003 – so, almost 16 yrs…. she may be 82 years old, and have medical issues – worse now – due to the Viral Encephalitis – after 30 yrs of being this way – yet, she is doing her best to ‘hold on’ – sadly, my older shit brother – stole our ability to ‘care for ourselves’ – and has been doing all he can to ‘be rid of us’ in a permenant way. Welcome to usa…the ‘attitude’ of most. Consider yourself lucky that you had ‘breast cancer’ and had loved ones who care for you or worry for you (I assume you did…) where we come from if we are ‘diagnosed with some potentially fatal disease, they subliminally are thinking to themselves: they aren’t dead yet”? ) Yes – some people actually do ‘exist’ with ‘relatives’ like this, and have now – nearing 20 yrs….and counting. Glad you’re doing so well – remember – there are those who are ‘worse off’ than you….. like, well, ….us!
